This 2026 reunion is more than a gathering — it is a moment of remembrance, reflection, and tribute. It is a chance for us to pause and truly see the lives, struggles, resilience, and triumphs of those whose footsteps made our own journeys possible. Telling our family’s story is not a finished task — it is a living, breathing process. I am still learning, still uncovering, still listening. My hope is that what is shared here becomes a foundation — something we can hold onto, build upon, and pass forward so that future generations will know not only where they come from, but the strength that lives within their roots. This work comes from the heart. It is not meant to be academic or perfect — only honest. The story has been shaped through both records and remembrance — through online archives like FamilySearch, MyHeritage, Geni, Jamaica Genealogy, newspapers, and more — but most importantly through the voices of our family. Voices like Aunt Ruby (Foote) Adair, whose stories, shared with love and timing, helped bring meaning and connection to moments that might otherwise have been lost. In many Caribbean families, the past is not always spoken aloud. Sometimes it carries complexity. Sometimes silence. Sometimes pain. And sometimes quiet pride. Yet, even in what was not said, we have always carried the past within us. We are, in many ways, a people who create ourselves — shaping meaning from memory, building strength from what was endured, and carrying forward what was dreamed but not yet realized. Please receive this not as a final account, but as a living beginning — something to question, expand, correct, and enrich together. Our story belongs to all of us. So far, we have been able to trace our lineage back to great-grandparents from the 1850s on both the Folkes and Foote maternal lines — and forward through generations who are still writing their chapters today. This is offered in honor of the Folkes, the Kelleys, the Footes, the Spences — and all those who came before, those who walk beside us now, and those whose names are still waiting to be spoken in the story yet to unfold.
